R. Zeller

Unfortunately, there are no more photos of some of the children from before the war or relatives could not be found. One of the photos we have is one of the pictures taken by the SS to document the medical experiments. The photos were seized from the physician Dr. Heißmeyer after the end of the war and were the basis for the search for the children. Günther Schwarberg found many of the children's relatives with the help of a worldwide poster campaign.

Former prisoners from the Neuengamme concentration camp had compiled a list of names of the children imprisoned there. It also included the name of a twelve-year-old boy from Poland: "Zeller". Dr. Kurt Heißmeyer noted the initial letters "R.Z." on the note sheet with examination data for this child. His first name is probably Roman. Roman Zeller was murdered together with the other children on April 20, 1945 on Bullenhuser Damm.
Nothing more is known about this boy.

A square in Hamburg-Burgwedel has been named after him since 1995.
