Antonie Hölzel
* May 7, 1909
Antonie Hölzel, known as Anton, was born May 7, 1909, in Deventer in the Netherlands.
He later moved to The Hague, founded a family there and worked as a driver and a waiter at a café.

Anton Hölzel was a member of the Communist Party and was arrested on September 10, 1941, by the security police for buying a newspaper that was banned by the German occupying authorities.

As a political prisoner, he was first sent to Buchenwald concentration camp and then, two years later, he and Dirk Deutekom were moved to Neuengamme. Together they looked after the 20 children in the sickbay.
Anton Hölzel was murdered at Bullenhuser Damm shortly before his 36th birthday.
