"Wir – Mädchen in Auschwitz"
The documentary follows two sisters as they return to the scenes of the crimes: the former concentration camps in Birkenau and Hamburg. Their reflections offer viewers profound insights into the horrors they experienced as children.
“You knew that if you were Jewish, you left the camp through the chimney,” says Tatjana Bucci. “When new arrivals asked about their mother or sister, the prisoners who had been there longer would answer: ‘Look, that’s where they come out of the chimney.’”
Her sister adds: “I became an atheist. Because a God would not have allowed these things to happen.”
Tatjana and Andra’s testimonies are a powerful reminder of the human suffering behind historical facts, and of the lasting impact these crimes have had.
